Sheep and Lamb

Our sheep are important part of our farming practice. They provide the most important nutrient and organic matter to our fields, as well as providing lovely wool, flavorful meat, and an enjoyable part of every day here.

Our breeding practices are focused on quality wool, and meat production. We always have sheep available for sale. Our primary breed types are Blue Faced Leicester, Romney, Teaswater, and Cotswold.

Nothing makes us happier than sending our sheep to homes that are hoping to add them to their own flock, or starting a new one. We are always available to mentor and answer questions that new owners might regarding caring for your animals, and to ensure that sheep will bring you the joy that they have brought to us.

Eating Lamb

Lamb is considered an excellent meat all over the world. Some breeds of sheep have a stronger flavor than others. If you prefer a milder flavor, try comparing cuts from different sources. Most of the breeds that we raise are considered to be very mild. For those who prefer more flavor in their cooking, we offer mutton on occasion. Please contact us for availability. We are also ready to work with customers who would like to arrange special slaughter and processing.

Individual lamb cuts and roasts are available for purchase through our online farm store or by contacting us at the farm. (Email is always a great way to reach out!). If you are interested in a whole or half lamb, we will be happy to provide more information, and to add you to our waiting list.

Wool

Wool and Fleece

Delving into wool craft has been one of the most fulfilling creative outlets that I have ever imagined. From the shearing of the sheep, skirting and washing the wool, and then evaluating the many possibilities each fleece holds within the beautiful locks. Whether used for felting, spinning rug hooking, or weaving, I have loved the feel of wool changing to fabric, or being needle painted into a portrait or design beneath my hands. I also love the process of wool dyeing, including using plant matter that I gather for dye, or using acid dyes to create vibrant colors. (Acid dyes require an acidic ingredient such as vinegar or citric acid to set the dye and make it colorfast.)

In addition to designing art with wool, I have also been developing different wool qualities within my flock of beautiful ewes. Starting with Cotswold and Romney sheep years ago, I have introduced Teeswater and now years of Blue-faced Leicester (BFL) into my fleeces to bring in more softness, crimp, and luster.
I always have raw fleeces available for sale. If you are looking for something in particular, just let me know and I will see if I have what you need! Some fleeces can be split into smaller quantities, but nearly all are available as whole fleeces.
