Entertainment

Say what?  Yes, sometimes we get some odd-looking vegetables that are entertaining enough, but generally speaking, we all love music on the farm.  On lovely days we may have the stereo on, or you may be entertained by overhearing Matt or Casey singing loudly in the onions with their headphones on.  If we are really lucky, we can relax at a farm party or a local musical venue and listen to Los Zombies; the winner of the High Meadow Farm local band of the year award!

Los Zombies: From left, Jeremy Pinc, Matt Kelly, Casey Davis and Steve Tessmer, with Bill Kruppinski, a friend of the farm, is sitting in on Drums

Okay, half of the band works on the farm.  They will probably win next year, too, but I’m sure that working here provides the emotion behind some of the best vegetable songs you’ll ever hear.  You can’t truly feel a bean song unless you’ve actually “walked the beans”!  No, they aren’t “all about vegetables” when they play either.  They are actually a very talented group of musicians with enough diversity and character to make for an entertaining night out.  The band does loads of original music with covers of musicians ranging from Greg Brown, Tom Waits to Neil Young.  They are not known to ever run out of songs to play and at times do make them up on the spot!

The Zombies recently returned from Nashville with a great album recording that has received high reviews from me and several people who I know!  (Really, it is a great album!)

You can occasionally hear them play at local venues like Cafe Carpe in Fort Atkinson and the Brickhaus Cafe in Jefferson.  If you would like to receive email updates about their schedule or their upcoming CD release party email us and we will see that you get them!
